The rest of this page explains each of these in detail.
KinPoints stores only what you enter to run your family's chore and reward system:
| Information | Examples | Who can see it |
|---|---|---|
| Children's profiles | First name or nickname, age (optional), chosen emoji and color | Adults in your family |
| Points and history | Chores done, bonus points, deductions, streaks, bounties, approvals | Adults in your family; kids on the Family Board see positives only |
| Rewards and goals | Rewards you set up, prices, savings goals, game-time timers | Adults in your family |
| Money tracking | Allowance amounts, cash-outs and notes you type in | Adults in your family |
| Adults' names | The name each adult enters, like "Mom" or "Grandpa", shown on entries they make | Adults in your family |
| Settings on each device | Widget favorites, whether the Help tip was shown | Only that device |
KinPoints does not ask for or collect contact details, photos, contacts, health data, or any identifier that tracks you across apps or websites. The money feature only keeps a record of amounts you enter. It doesn't connect to a bank or move real money.
Apple stores iCloud data under its own privacy policy, encrypting it in transit and on its servers.
You choose who joins your family by sending an invite link. Parents can see and change everything. Helpers, such as a grandparent or babysitter, can see your family's information, give and take points, check off chores and spend rewards. Anyone you invite can see the names and points of the children in your family, so only invite people you trust.
The family organizer can remove anyone at any time from Family → Manage Who's Invited. When someone is removed, the family's information is removed from their devices the next time they open KinPoints.
KinPoints is made for parents and other trusted adults to use with their children. Children do not create accounts or sign in, and the app does not collect personal information from children and send it to us. A child's name and points are entered by an adult and stay within the family, as described above.
The Family Board is a kid-friendly view meant for a shared family device. It shows only encouraging information and requires the device's passcode, Face ID or Touch ID to leave. Purchase screens never appear on the Family Board.
KinPoints Plus is sold through the App Store. Apple handles the payment and tells KinPoints only whether a purchase is active. We never receive your name, card details or Apple Account information. To let everyone in your family use Plus, KinPoints saves the date your subscription is active until in your family's shared iCloud data, next to your name. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your device's Settings under your Apple Account.
KinPoints has no analytics of its own. If you've chosen to share app analytics with developers in your device's Settings, Apple may send us anonymous crash reports and usage statistics. These don't include your family's information. You can turn this off in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
You're in control of your family's information and can delete it at any time:
Because we don't keep a copy, we can't recover information after it's deleted.
If we change how KinPoints handles information, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll also mention it in the app's release notes.
